Carrie Caughey is the owner of Speech at the Beach Therapy, LLC. She received her M.A., degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Memphis and her undergraduate degree in communicative sciences and disorders from the University of Mississippi. She is certified by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and licensed by the State of South Carolina. She has a lengthy clinical background as well as having received many hours of continuing education. She enjoys working with the pediatric population. She has experience treating children with deficits in receptive and expressive language, articulation, phonology, language processing, autism spectrum disorder, feeding and swallowing, and fluency. She believes in child led therapy with a holistic approach to help children become the best version of themselves. She enjoys spending time with her family surfing and soaking up the sun.
Chrissy is a Speech Language Pathologist who grew up Goose Creek, SC. She began working in the Union County School District after receiving her Bachelor’s of Art Degree in Speech Language Pathology from Columbia College. While working in the school system, she earned a Master's of Communication Disorders from the University of South Carolina. She has 23 years of experience working with a wide range of clients including, but not limited to, children with: mild-severe expressive and receptive language delays, articulation disorders, apraxia, phonological disorders, mild severe pragmatic difficulties, autism, fluency, auditory processing disorders, cerebral palsy, downs syndrome, TBI, and dysphasia. She loves using children’s books in therapy and believes literacy is very important for the development of speech and language skills. Chrissy is certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and the Board of SC. In her spare time, Chrissy enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 children, being at the beach or on the water and reading.
Sarah is a Speech Language Pathologist with Speech at the Beach here in Charleston, SC. She has 5 years of experience working with the pediatric population and enjoys working with children with a wide variety of communication disorders, including receptive and expressive language delays, articulation and phonology disorders, literacy and word recognition, and autism spectrum disorder. Sarah is ASHA certified and values ongoing continuing education to improve patient outcomes and stay on top of the most recent evidence. Sarah grew up on James Island herself and is now thrilled to be able to provide speech services for families and kiddos in her hometown. Sarah loves spending time with her husband and 1 year old son, and their golden retriever, Honey.
Whitley is a Speech Pathologist coming from Hattiesburg, MS to start her career at Speech at the Beach here in Charleston, SC. She received her M.S., degree in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Southern Mississippi as well as her undergraduate degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at USM. Whitley had the opportunity to work in Early Intervention as a Graduate Assistant while completing her graduate program, getting to work with children with a variety of communication disorders including but not limited to: expressive and receptive language disorders/delays, Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Down Syndrome, Autism, articulation disorders, and phonological disorders. She loves play-based therapy and following a child’s lead in order for speech and language growth to be as natural as possible for a child. Whitley enjoys spending time with her friends, family, and her dog, Sheriff.
Tori is a Speech Pathologist starting her career with Speech at the Beach. She received her M.S. in Speech-Language Pathology here in Charleston at the Medical University of South Carolina and her B.A. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Cleveland State University. Tori has experience treating children with a variety of communication disorders including but not limited to: expressive and receptive language delays, articulation and phonological disorders, and autism spectrum disorder. She loves to incorporate literacy, music, and play into her therapy while allowing the child to lead. Tori enjoys spending time with friends and family, being at the beach, and traveling.
